UURC Tier I, II and III Opportunities and Distance Services Overview
This one-hour interactive presentation will consist of an overview with related data of the professional development opportunities available through The University of Utah Reading Clinic (UURC). Our research-based Tier I models consist of Tier I Text (building fluency and comprehension for immediate and transfer level text), Writing About Text, Advanced Word Study and Morphology. Our Research-based Tier II models are Early Steps, Next Steps and Higher Steps--which consist of assisted reading on instructional level text, phonics, fluency, comprehension and vocabulary. This presentation will also provide an overview of Tier III professional development opportunities for educators interested in learning how to effectively work with dyslexic students who need a more intensive intervention. Educators interested in the USBE Reading Interventionist Endorsement will enjoy the overview of our Tier III professional development opportunities, as well as our distance services for the Tier II Small Group option. The UURC also offers distance tutoring for students in rural areas. The last fifteen minutes of the presentation will be dedicated to Q&A.
