Preparing Students for the ACT Through Core Instruction (2-Hour Session)

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

Objectives: • What does and does not work in ACT prep • Alignment between the ACT and Utah Core Standards • Instructional practices in English, math, and science that improve ACT outcomes Audience: teachers, instructional coaches, administrators, counselors, testing coordinators Description: The ACT is an assessment that measures the critical thinking abilities of students and predicts the likelihood of student success in entry-level college classes. However, this is not a test that students can “cram” for; success on the ACT is predicted by the level of higher-level thinking preparation in all subject areas that students attain throughout high school. Come learn about what does and does not work in ACT preparation, see how the Utah Core Standards align with ACT-assessed skills, and learn how to incorporate instructional practices that improve ACT outcomes for all students. Attendees will plan where and how to incorporate ACT-skill practice into Core instruction. **Attendees should bring an internet-capable laptop or tablet to this session.**
