I have worked as a special education teacher at BRMS for the past 7 years. I received my Bachelors Degree at USU and am currently working toward my Masters in Education at USU. I have co-taught 9th grade language arts and played an integral role in the current design of our co-taught classes at BRMS. We have had great success in practicing full inclusion for all students. Our classes are made up of 1/3 struggling learners, 1/3 honors students, and 1/3 general education students. With this design our students have excelled socially, academically, and morally in the treatment of one another. The data my co-teacher and I have to support this statement has been the subject of interest that has began a co-teaching movement throughout BESD. We have presented for the past two years at the UMLA conference and hope to help other districts strengthen their co-teaching design.
